Here on the plain bordering the foot of the large Gifberg, which overlooks the Knersvlakte, liesVanrhynsdorp, formerly known as Troe-Troe – a name given to the town by the Khoi-San. It is also the name of the river that flows through the village. Many people think that Namaqualand is only about flowers, succulents and wide plains, but there is much more to do, see and experience in Vanrhynsdorp and Surroundings.
In 2023, Vanrhynsdorp experienced flood damage when a largeportion of the Troe-Troe bridge washed away and the businesses and water supply were significantly affected. The Vanrhynsdorp Community Forum (VGF), which has a motto of “Stand Together”, has proven that there is good cooperation between businesses and the residents.
Visitors are welcomed with the hospitality and sunsets they knownfor and that Vanrhynsdorp will be Namaqualand’s 1st choice destination with all its hospitality, accommodation, floral beauty, historical history and attractions!
